Your privacy matters to us. The short version: Pocket Extrovert keeps your data on your device and in your own private iCloud — not on our servers. We don't run a backend that stores your personal information, we use no analytics, and your notes are never sent to the cloud for processing. This policy explains the details in plain language. Pocket Extrovert is currently in beta (TestFlight).
What Pocket Extrovert does
Pocket Extrovert is a private, personal relationship memory tool with three modes:
- Neighbors — Remember who lives where, their pets, kids' names, permissions, and relationships, anchored to places on a map.
- Friends — Your private memory for the friendships that matter — life events, birthdays, and a gentle nudge when it's been too long since you reached out.
- Work — Your private memory for everyone you work with — organized by company and team, with notes for your next conversation.
Where your data lives
Everything you enter — houses, people, pets, notes, friends, work contacts, life events, reminders — is stored on your device and synced through your own private iCloud (Apple's CloudKit) across the devices signed in to your Apple account. We do not operate a server that stores your personal data, and we cannot see it.
Signing in
Pocket Extrovert uses Sign in with Apple. Apple gives the app a private identifier so your data syncs to your account; if you choose to share your name, it's kept only within your own data. We do not collect your phone number or email address to create an account, and there's no password for us to store.
On-device intelligence
Turning a note like “The Johnsons have a dog named Biscuit” into structured information happens entirely on your device, using on-device AI. Your notes are never sent to a server or to any AI provider — not to us, not to OpenAI, not to anyone.
Information used on your device
A few device features are used while you're in the app; the data stays on your device or in your private iCloud:
- Location — used only while you're actively using the app, to show nearby houses on the map in Neighbors mode. We don't track your location in the background.
- Contacts — if you choose to import contacts in Friends mode, the app reads only the contacts you select. Your address book is not uploaded.
- Reminders — reach-out reminders ("nudges") are scheduled as local notifications on your device. We don't send push notifications from a server. (The app uses Apple's notification system only to receive your own iCloud sync updates.)
Apple services we rely on
- iCloud / CloudKit — stores and syncs your data within your own private iCloud, governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
- Sign in with Apple — signs you in without sharing personal details with us.
- Apple MapKit — displays the map in Neighbors mode. Apple sees the general area you're viewing to serve map tiles; it does not receive your Pocket Extrovert data.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads.
- We don't use analytics or tracking tools — the app makes no network connections of its own.
- We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don't track you across apps or websites, or build advertising profiles.
- We don't send your notes to the cloud for AI processing.
Sharing
Your Friends and Work data is private to you and is never shared with anyone. In Neighbors mode, neighborhood data is shared only with people you explicitly invite to a shared space, through Apple's iCloud sharing — you choose what to share and with whom.
Retaining and deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud rather than on our servers, you control it directly. You can delete entries in the app at any time, and remove all of it by deleting the app and clearing its data from your iCloud. Since we don't hold a copy, there's nothing on our side to request deletion of.
Children's privacy
Pocket Extrovert is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us so we can help.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
